Patty Swenson Harms is thrilled to bring her passion for teaching young children to Mountain Peak. Most recently having taught at Mount Zion Lutheran Early Childhood Center in Boulder and Sunset Academy in Longmont, Patty has over 20 years of teaching experience, including homeschooling her two now adult sons. She attained her bachelors degree in Visual Communications from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has a masters degree from the University of Colorado in Experiential Education. She has a Colorado Professional Teaching License in Art with an added endorsement in Elementary Education. Mrs. Harms also attended the University of Minnesota and continues to take classes in early childhood education. She has worked with all ages of students and particularly enjoys preschoolers who bring energy and enthusiasm daily to school. Believing that the uniqueness of each child is paramount and the need for an educational system to honor that and work with it rather than try to fit each child into the same box, she is excited to teach at a school that matches these philosophies. Outside of school, Patty is an active member at her church and enjoys reading, hiking, mountain biking, gardening, and remodeling projects. She looks forward to helping her preschoolers discover the joy of learning each and every day! |
